Li-36 Battery Upgrade

Your Consolidated Communications telephone service is provided over our Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) network. The fiber network uses hair-thin strands of glass fiber and laser-generated pulses of light called fiber optics to transmit your voice communications. This very reliable network differs from Consolidated’s more traditional copper wire based network in one key way: If electrical power is lost at your home, your landline voice telephone service will not work and you will not be able to dial 911 in an emergency unless you have a working backup power source.

To ensure you always have a working home phone, it is suggested to purchase a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). UPS is used to restore power to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) when commercial power goes down from the power company. The ONT will be powered while commercial power is down for 8 hours or 24 hours based on the PSI configuration. The ONT provides the Ethernet connection and voice connection to the home from Consolidated Communications. Other Ethernet devices would need their own UPS and battery(s) to keep power to the voice service if other devices are used. This may include a Modem and Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA) for VoIP service. For VoIP Service, if you have a Modem and ATA at your premise shown in the pictures below, these devices will need to be backed up as well to maintain your VoIP service. Please verify equipment before purchase.

Installation is simple by sliding in battery modules on to your current power supply, the Li-36 UPS. The Li-36 UPS is designed as the world’s only scalable capacity UPS for fiber/VoIP services. Li36 UPS physically is a very small foot print (6.1in x 3.5in x 2.25) with a single battery module weighing total 1.76lbs.
